So, the ChromeCast device is going on sale in the US for only £35. That's a good price. The ChromeCast SDK will be available to download shortly via the SDK Manager.

That will hopefully bring lots of opportunities for developers to get into this field of app development. Nice one Google, now let have ChromeCast here in the UK by the end of the month.

Thank you

The way I understand it, it's not sharign content from your phone, it's simply controlling the chromecast dongle and what it shows from the internet on your TV. So you couldn't use it to mirror your device for playing games or displaying apps on your TV. I might be wrong, but this is how I understand it.

Yes, you only send content from YouTube, Netflix etc from your phone/tab to your TV, this is noting new, GoogleTV has that feature, apparently Google is trying to get more interest on GoogleTV.

Although, I say it's not sharing content from your device. You could make it get content by your device by pointing it at an http: address on your device and serve a stream from your device directly. So you're still just using it as a web streaming device, but your device is providing the web content. This would work for music, video and pictures, but not sure about mirroring, unless you could encode and stream in real-time your device display.
