Confused about screen resolutions

This is the same code running on an Archos 70 internet tablet and and HTC desire :-

(The code is the Tic Tac Toe example)

Now both devices suposedly have the same screen resolution (wvga 800x480) so shouldn't the buttons be a lot larger and fill more of the screen on the tablet then they actually do ?!?!

Ah! thanks looks like "Scale" and "Density-independent pixel" are the things to get my head round.
