Hi,

Is there a way to delete a file to the Recycle Bin? Searching the forum did not come up with anything, although my search criteria might be inadequate.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

The 'Recycle Bin' is really just a folder like others. Find out the path of the bin and move the items there. This will be the equivalent of deleting to the bin.

Thanks, but as I understand it that wown't work. I've read everywhere that moving files to the folder you mention isn't the same. And, the folder isn't always in the same place.

Any other suggestions?

TIA,

This is correct. When you delete a file it gets reconstructed in the recycle bin with a different name.
This is what I found on Microsoft support:
The deleted file is renamed, using the following syntax:
D<original drive letter of file><#>.<original extension>

I believe the path to the recycle bin is C:\RECYCLE\, but on my computer it seems to be C:\$Recycle.Bin.
You should also note that some computers have disabled the recycle bin. In that case the folder is missing.
