Below is a directory listing of my android dev area. There are several contract apps and the ones I have on google play or just for my own use. BUT, thre are a dozen or more that I started and then abandoned for various reasons.

I do go through these and delete the ones I will never get back to, and I sometimes look at the ones that just sit in there. All of these seemed like a good idea at the time, but soon got put on the shelf because there are too many like it around or maybe I just don't know how to do what I want it to do.

What does your dev directory look like and how many dead projects do you have? Or am I alone in keeping them around?

I have a few "dead" projects, but I keep them for sentimental reasons (and also because maybe some code I wrote might become handy on another app) and a couple of "unreleased" ones.

That's the biggest reason I keep these around. Most of them have some really useful stuff in them that I use again.

I tend to get an idea, let it lie in wait for months or years and then wake it up again.

I keep a directory with may dead apps as junkyard, to salvage whatever code I need in real apps.

I always told myself... Stay away from 3D, Bruno.

Last week, however I decided to conquer my fears and I tried to create a small 3D engine.
Surprisingly, everything was going well until I tried to implement 3D rotation. Disaster.
I tried to change the equations a little bit, even came up with my own. Nothing worked.
I. Just. Can't. Do. 3D. Rotation.

Some parts of the code are still usable, but yeah... DEAD PROJECT.

I think this quote sums up large parts of my project folder:

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn", rough translation "In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming".

I don't see them as dead, they are just dreaming, waiting until the stars are right to rise again.
