email notifications

I have been subscribed to a number of threads for a few weeks now and have email notification set to 'instant' but I have never received any emails about the threads. Is there some problem with this function? Do I need to turn something else on? Are teh notifications easily mistaken for spam?

Well, I'm not sure about this one. The settings seem to be fine and emails are being sent by the forum.

My email setting is instant and I seem to be getting all the forum emails that I would expect.
