Now the hot weather here is abating; I can finally use my PC that I bought over a month ago.

So far, all its done is set up Windows and apply some updates.

I picked the worst time (before heatwave) to buy it.

Not sure what to try first on it - programming wise.

Any suggestions?

Are you really looking for a new project, Daestrum?
I’d love to play that old game on Android – it’s just an idea I’ve had.
There’s a Windows version on Steam that’s very close to the old C64/ATARI 8-bit game…
I’ve just been chatting to Colin Evans about it. It’s a real challenge to somehow adapt the entire control scheme for the Android touchscreen and perhaps give the graphics a bit of a polish too, without straying too far from the original.
The game may be very old, but you shouldn’t underestimate it. At higher levels, it’s a very challenging airport tower simulation.

Could you not just get RetroArch and play the original that way?

I think it’s going to be tricky with the emulation, and so far I haven’t found a really usable core that works even remotely satisfactorily.

I just built my new pc and its awsome here is the specs:

PSU: MPG A750GL ATX 3.1 Gold Full Modular
GPU: GeForce RTX 5060 EAGLE OC 8G
SSD: AS2280P4U 1TB M.2 PCIE GEN3 X4 NVME 3500/3000 MB/S
RAM: Neo Forza TRINITY 16GB DDR5 5200Mhz CL40
CPU FAN: DEEPCOOL AIRCOOLER AG400 ARGB
CPU: Intel Core Ultra 5 225F LGA-1851 Arrow Lake-S 3.3GHz Tray CPU
MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE B860M K

And this is kind of economical
