In the New Year Eve of 2000, all peoples around the world sang together (or listened to), Friedrich von Schiller's Ode an die Freude
song that Beethoven has included in the Coral in the 4th. movement of Symphony # 9.
When von Schiller wrote:
Freude trinken alle Wesen
An den Brüsten der Natur;
Alle Guten, alle Bösen
Folgen ihrer Rosenspur.
.
.
Freude heißt die starke Feder
In der ewigen Natur.
Freude, Freude treibt die Räder
In der großen Weltenuhr.

I doubt only few people understood the meaning. you can hardly find anything close to this except may be in the
Islamic Sufi literature. He hit the United Field Theory long before Einstein.
I read the English translation but it is far from the spirit of the words that the poet wanted to convey to us.

As a German the meaning is clear. Of course the used epic language is "good old style" but I would not go that far and compare it to the United Field Theory. It is some kind of a mass effect like when you go to a very big event. People are herd animals.

But... Indeed it is a brilliant composition. I like it very much.

I beg to differ! It was Beethoven who gave it the masses sense. through the loud coral. but when von Schiller sat down to himself and wrote it there were no masses,
He saw the magical power that bonds all natural beings together in one single indivisible being (not just humans). He discovered that oneness of being after a long time of seeing the universe as discrete creatures:
"deine zauber binden wieder was die mode streng geteilt"
Now the secret, the challenge that von Schiller left for us is: What is the "mode" that blinded us, and still blinding us from seeing the absolute beauty of the oneness of being?
