Back into the 1990s i remember we did some playings with Ascii-Art), I was Online at this time in a BBS. And Holger, the Author of the one i present here, too.

The Animation is based on a Textfile: Please find it attached Muhwie49.zip

I have a php Script which does create a GIF out of the Textfile(s).
Here is the gif based on the Attached textfile

Have fun watching it! :D

You can find more when using the online-resource of the old Ascii Art Snippets. This is the php-Script which converts the textfile into a GIF.

Replace the number with any number from 0 to 111
Note that there may be ones which does not work.

We used to print ASCII pics on old printers with endless paper:)

As long as the lab monitor (usually a grad assistant that drew the short straw) didn't catch us … and end up banning you for 2 weeks from print privileges.

That animated ascii in the first post looks amazingly like something I made on my C64 for a Walmart presentation back in highschool.

ok, you spoiled my day. now I will be hearing that terrible 9 pin printing noise in my head all day.
and ultrafast aswell at 5+ seconds for 1 line of text. these days you print an entire book at the speed we printed 1 page back then :)

Back to 1978 in Boston we used to print images this way on a huge and noisy continuous line printer, it was very hard because we had to punch hundreds of cards and feed them to a card reader then to printer. Thanks for the memories.
