Golden Ratio is the magic of nature.
If you do any work and you added to it a Golden Ratio touch, it will be a great work, in any aspect of activities like drawing/painting etc.
Example: Two persons make two pictures of the same thing, one picture is better than other, WHY? simple answer is that better one was inlaid with a touch of some degree of Golden Ratio, But the winner person added it as he has a gift from god.

Now: Can we touch our coding with it? and why?

Also generally I think any view not applying Golden Ratio, it'll look ugly.
