We had a Samsung Smart TV at work. While there was no coax tv connection in that building we had to look for alternatives so a tv app looked logical.
it appeared that the TV was running on Tizen OS. Pretty useless as it only seems to be able to install some tv channel apps.
No regular android apps at all.
We attached a mini android pc to it to gain our freedom back and stream belgian tv channels via regular android apps (Stievie).
If they'll push that to smartphones & tablets then sales would drop a lot I'm affraid or people will send back their devices because their apps that they're used to work with don't exist on Tizen.
Safer or not... if it doesn't run plain android apps then it's doomed to fail.
