I am using FastSpring to sell my software. It works well since 2020. But last month, I encountered credit card attacking and lost $300.

Have you met similar problems? Are there good alternatives to FastSpring?

Someone is making orders in a large quantity with credit card and after about a week, he will revoke all the orders. I am not sure what he can get by doing so.

The orders are made using fake emails. I think it is FastSpring's fault to let this happen. But they didn't seem to give me any compensation.

I know there is a procedure by bad actors to use online shops to validate that stolen credit cards are working. In their case they aren't interested in the product they're are "purchasing", it's only a means to tell if the card works or not. (If it works they often sell the card data to somebody else for emptying.)

Not sure if this is what happened to you, but I suppose it could be.

I have a similar topic about bad experience with fastspring.com as @aeric mentioned. And also exactly same attack happened to me. They charged me all the refund costs. This is another example of a -bad intentions- company. I developed my selling website years ago accoridng to their documents and their system was faulty or insecure so an attacked exploited it through our website and booom! They said you are guilty ! What you will see next is they will increase the security level of your website's account on fastspring and this time many other valid purcahses will fail. I suggest you switch to another platform quickly. I don'T know which country you are living in but you must have plenty options if you not living in Turkey like me :) (stripe, paddle etc.. )

Imagine 1000 customers ordered your apps then they asked for refunds. Fastspring charges 3.5% of the order total. You bear the cost without getting any sales. What happen if your software also activated for use and they also get to use the software for free.

This is not true. Last week I encountered a credit card fraud transaction on purchase of online shop with amount less than USD$100. There exist some online syndicates that able to guess the credit card information. I immediately called my bank to have the card blocked. It was not the first time it happened. Coincidentally my card is nearly expire and the bank is delivering a new card to me. This few days I can’t use my card.

p/s: Luckily I get SMS notification for the suspicious transaction or else I only know when I check my bank statements. Maybe some users have a lot of transactions and never check their statements.

When returning the money, they charge you the return fee. It is not free.
