I regret ever getting into Android app development. Been doing it 12 years now, Have had Google ruin my business many times over the years over their beautiful perfect termination system. They run the store and Google play like a brothel, it's such a mess and legitimate developers get shit on every day.
I'm glad to say after 12 years. I'm done. Google is truly a pathetic unethical company to do business with, So is Apple. I made a ton of money thankfully but, it's time to move on. Dealing with Google is worse than trying to deal with a 9 year old child, and anyone whose raised kids knows how big of shit heads 9 year olds can be. Now imagine that times 1000x, and that's how Google works.
To anyone reading this, thinking about jumping into App Development. Run, Run the other way, Find a better less stressful career. Yes the money is good but, You can have the most legitimate clean proper 10/10 app in the world and there is still a 20-40% chance Google will just ban it for no real reason, and Good luck having it appealed. Their appeal system is a joke. Murderers have a better chance at getting bail then you will trying to have your app restored.
Lets put it this way for any new devs reading. I day trade stocks, I play against multi-billion dollar bots trying to steal MY money, and you know whats sad? Dealing with huge hedge funds trying to take my money every day is a hell of a lot less stressful then trying to deal with Google, at least I can't be "Banned by association" from trading the stock exchange, And best of all, None of that net-60 payment term bullshit to do with either, which most networks pay, These assholes want YOU to be an interest FREE bank for THEM. You will always lose, and will always be chasing the money, You will never win.
Let that sink in, Freaking wallstreet AI's and Algos show more dignity for people then Google does. WALLSTREET. Some of the shadiest people alive, are easier to deal with then GOOGLE. At least with wallstreet I can pull my money out WHENEVER and don't need to deal with cocky ass ad networks crying they gotta pay you net-60, Seriously, half these networks would rather not pay you at all, They say "Net-60" but really its like Net-70-80 by the time you get your money, You invest thousands of dollars every month, only to wait almost 3 months to see that money again, Meanwhile you have to keep investing the following 2.5 months too, See? You're ALWAYS chasing growth, you never come out ahead, THEY do, you are being an interest free bank for large advertisers, They already take 30% of your revenue too, and Sundar tells "Cspan" its a "Low margin business" like come on bro, Admob dices themselves 30% of developers revenues off the top and pays us 65-70%. They are truly shady as hell. Shadier then wallstreets ever been and those dudes have done some shady stuff.
I love making apps, I love apps too, they will always have a special place in my heart, but the amount of bullshit Google and Apple pull, its truly pathetic. Then they act like they are doing developers a favor. It sucks big time they run their businesses like this because Apps can truly change your life, but the industry is riddled with major flaws. I wouldn't of done it for 12 years if I didn't enjoy it, but there comes a time when enough is enough, I can only get screwed so much by Google, There is much more to life then going to bed every night wondering if you'll wake up with your app banned or not, Me and many many others have had this happen, completely clean, legitimate apps.
Then best of all, Google allows garbage apps to thrive, Google literally allowed cheetah mobile to straight up steal over $2b from app devs over 7 years, Cheetah Mobile would straight up replace YOUR ads with theirs inside YOUR own app, Google knew about this for YEARS, and they did nothing because they were lining their own pockets.
It took 6 years for Google to Ban Cheetah Mobile, Many many other shady app devs like them continue to thrive on the store, While Google will cry and ban your account because you spelt a word wrong by adding an extra letter that you accidently typed or something extremely petty like that.
What a sad time to be alive though, where Wallstreet shows more respect for the average joe, like I said, at least with trading, I don't need to goto bed every night thinking "Fuck I hope Google doesnt ban my app" ... with trading, I'M in control of my own risk, with Apps, GOOGLE and Ad networks control your risk, your cash flow, your life.
Cash flow is king, and if there is one thing I hate about mobile, is cash flow is horrible, it's almost worse than being a retail supplier.
