Hi Guys,

I would like to ask if anybody has an idea of creating a mobile application/library that will allow
old scanner to read barcode from a mobile phone. I have read some articles that uses this technology such as mobeam, omnibeam or beep n go.

These are the articles I have read.

http://www.edn.com/electronics-products/electronic-product-reviews/edn-magazine--april-2013/4407719/Smartphone-barcodes-now-readable-by-all-POS-laser-scanners
http://sourcebits.com/case-studies/app-development-mobeam-mobile-wallet/

I wish we could have this in our community. In the article i read about they are using proximity sensor of mobile phone in order to allow the old barcode scanner to read barcode in mobile phone.

What I don't really understand if mobeam teachnology adds a special hardware on phone or its just an application software.

Any recommendation, suggestions and solution is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Following the link to the website in the video shows http://mobeam.com/
Today, we’re announcing that after 7 years of helping our customers and users create true mobile wallet experiences, we will be discontinuing Mobeam’s services. Although current users may continue to use the Beep n' Go application until further notice, we will no longer provide updates for the app. While it’s difficult to say goodbye, we’re very thankful for having the rewarding experience of sharing Mobeam with the world and are excited about the opportunities ahead.

Hi Manfred,

Thanks for your quick response.

I know that mobeam will be discontinuing there product but can this community do somewhat that like mobeam so that we will have our on library that is something like mobeam if possible or is there in any problem with regards to the technology since it is patented.

Thanks you.
