Android Question "lighting console" for mp3-player?

Hi,

for my little mp3-player-app i want to add visuell effects like a "lighting console". First i want to use the FFT-library, but klaus said, it works to slow.

Has anybody an idea, how i can detect the beat of the actually mp3-song and use this for visuell effects?

I have never tried it, its just an idea I had when I read your post. Using simple moving average type calc, that would basically mimic a very simple low pass filter, thus leaving you a pattern of low-end frequency. Normally, the "beat" can be "seen" in the amplitude changes of the low end. Again, just spit-ballin, but it should be reasonable fast (and easy) to process.
