Well there are only limited options now. Buying a new phone, using an older one as a compass and live with the risctrictions of your actual mobile phone

and rotate the phone so that the screen map is aligned with real life, like we used to do in the old days with paper maps.

I book car which show the car on a map.

Having said that, when I visited Melbourne CBD for first time in years (thanks, covid) a few months back, I headed off 180 degrees wrong direction from train station, which is a mistake I'd normally keep to myself, but we're among friends here in this forum, right? ?

@emexes I am old school. Was it noon? What it overcast? Did you have some libations?
That said, I have done it too, rarely of course, among friends.

I should mention that in my career I've heard the phrase a "I made a full and total 90 degree turn in my life".
Some ambivalence I think.

No, just overconfidence on my part, plus for some reason I muddled up two adjacent train stations and chose unwisely.

Although yes, it was overcast (drizzling, in fact).

When I was about 14 yo and orienteering in the bush, I did a similar off-by-180 mistake, got totally confused when nothing around me matched the map.

Lol last time (before this year) that I was lost was in London in 2011, when the only map I had with me was a 1954 street directory borrowed from my father-in-law that just barely covered the area I was aiming for. What could possibly go rwong?

"I made a full and total 90 degree turn in my life".

I think we've all done a few of those. ?

Now that you said it.
In my case, I usually get off from right side of gate of metro and walk straight to the crossing, just looking down on the road.
Once I got off from left gate.

I got thinking why the crossing was taking time to approach and looked up.
Now I have to walk back more than double the distance.

Having two options:
  1. factory reset phone
  2. buy new phone
I opted for 3rd. I went basic.
