Having just spent the last 2 weeks doing a massive Claude code audit of some customer facing apps and worn my eyeballs out in the process I just had a brain fart...
This supersedes
Go to IDE line number

IDE line number font control
and I suspect it would be simpler to implement.
When an IDE's side scroll bar is moved (the one that scrolls the module content) - have a little popup that shows in large type the current line number at the top / or bottom / or middle (whichever is easiest).
The popup could disappear after a second or so.
If the popup moved up/down in sync with the scroll bar that would be sexy - but just at the top would be OK.
Maybe make it optional - or make its persistence user definable from 0 (it never appears) to 99999 (it is always there).
Maybe make its font user definable - if this is too hard just make it much bigger than current LHS line numbers.
