Android Question Screen Flicker

I have a program which runs once an hour. It does nothing other than test a couple of variables and sets flags as a result. Whenever it runs it causes the screen to flicker. Is it possible to stop this?

I would think that the flicker is the activity starting and then closing quickly, try making the activity transparent (search the forum for how to do that )
