SD Card Root Folder - followup question

I have been following this thread External SD Card Root Folder with interest. Using the code from "Jost" in post#14, my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" reports following:

File.DirRootExternal: /mnt/sdcard
File.DirDefaultExternal: /mnt/sdcard/Android/.......
SDCard (Jost#14): /mnt/extSdCard

So far so good.

My question:

ES File Explorer defaults to /mnt/sdcard and does not find /mnt/extSdCard at all!

I have apps which save data onto the SD Card via File.DirRootExternal for further processing on a PC. None of these work now as the data is not on the SD Card!. Does that mean I need to use absolute addresses (/mnt/....)? Can anyone help here?

ps. On my old Odys Xpress, this was no problem.

Older versions of ES File Explorer had an "Up" option somewhere that you had to enable to be able to navigate up to the file system root. The latest version, on my tablet at least, has a "/ Device" button on the left which does the same thing.
