Android Question Second Program GUI Size Problem

I read through and followed the coding for the Second Program. However, when I run it on my Samsung Flip 4 phone, all the components on the screen are very small. I created a variant to match my phone and used that. In the designer, the dark gray section does not match my phone's variant so perhaps that is the issue.
