Molto spesso non intervengo nel forum perchè il mio inglese fa schifo.

Sarebbe bello poter intervenire utilizzando la propria madre lingua e inserire un bottone "help me to translate xx-English".

(in this case xx=italian)

google translator

Nel frattempo però, puoi intervenire nel forum italiano se hai bisogno di qualcosa. Comunque dovresti proprio impararlo l'inglese, è fondamentale in questo lavoro ;)

meanwhile you can write in italian forum if you need some thing. Anyway you should learn english language, is very important in this job

Now that's an interesting idea.

I speak English very well ... it is the English people who do not understand me :)

If i remember correctly i installed a firefox plugin for my father which translated from and to german with a right-click menu.
But that was ten years ago....o_O:eek:

You can hear some really mangled English on the streets of the UK. Perhaps it is my age, but I often think that the most grammatically beautiful English is spoken by those for whom it is not a first language. Perhaps the foreigner takes more care with the basic building blocks.

You are a home celebrity walking down a street in a foreign land. Somebody thrusts a microphone in your face and asks a politically loaded low-ball question. Oh, it's also in a language which you did not learn on your mothers knee. You start off with the rabbit-caught-in-the-headlights routine and then?

Here is how it's done:

You've obviously never spoken to me directly @charlesg, I don't have a regional accent (not unless I'm around friends, that's when it comes out). I'm more than sure that your comments would easily offend a lot of natives from the UK, mangled English is called a regional accents, the same way that people from the deep south of America have regional accents, actually that can apply to anywhere in the world today. Can you understand Alax Ferguson in full flow, probably not and he's an extremely clever man.

Anyway, I'm no longer responding to any apparent serious posts from yourself, as this was a light hearted thread until post #12.

Well, French used to be the THE language to speak (and to learn by non native French speakers) some centuries ago being the language of diplomats and fashion. English borrowed lots of loan-words from French.
Now, English is the language to speak.
Who knows, in a few hundreds years of time, maybe it will be Chinese or Spanish being the languages which have most native speakers....

I'm sorry if I offended Peter Simpson. It was not my intention. I was not referring to regional accents which I marvel at. How they persist in an age of national broadcasting I do not know but I am truly happy that they do. I think he would accept that I mentioned grammar but not accent.

What I was referring to was poor communication whatever the accent. Using National Literacy Trust figures about 15% of English adults are 'functionally illiterate'. For a 'first world' country this is shameful.
