Service Module and battery usage

When using a Service Module, is there more battery usage just for having the module in place (overhead)? Or is battery usage only in play when your Service Module is actually running some code like doing FTP?

Only when code is executed.
And when you disturb the processor from its sleep.
Main culprits are display, network, not the actual processor instructions.

Yes, in normal cases the display is the battery killer #1!
So don't worry about service down times...
