One of my executables for the PC was infected by a virus. That started me thinking, is there a way to detect that the exe was infected. I'm thinking along the lines of just a warning to the user that the file may be infected by a virus and doing an appclose. A files size check and name check is a start but are there any byte strings I can check for in the executable to verify that the exe remains more or less as it was compiled? I imagine most viruses are smart enough not to change the file size of the file they are infecting.
