Spinner: No Prompt

I'm just working on a project that I have updated the targetSDK to 14, I've noticed that the spinners no longer have a prompt title. Is this the way we roll now. What do people do to get round this. I'd prefer not to add labels above each spinner and that would take up vital space. Would adding the prompt as the first item in list be suitable workaround. This will make other sections of code a tad more complex as I would have to check each time that the 'prompt item' isn't selected.

Yes.

The workaround you suggest is correct and not neccessarily difficult since the "prompt" will be always Item #0, so, on every selection you just need to do Index + 1.

I know this is an old topic but as I'm searching for Spinner related items I came across this and it would seem the prompt was put back in as I have it in my version.

@dkittell, if you listed your android device, release, and target version that may be helpful.
My HTC Sensation with 4.0.3 is missing prompts, with 14 targeted.

So is it possible to have the prompt of the spinner be displayed before an object in the spinner is clicked?
