Hi there
TL;WR - My granny passed away at 95 this last weekend.
I'm watching an episode of the Sandman yesterday. The sibling to Dream comes, good looking and black with dreadlocks. One man comes over to pick a ball that was thrown and Dream caught it. Hi, he greets the young lady. Do you think I can get your number, can I see you sometime? Yes, the lady replies, we will see each other very soon.
Later she goes about her tasks. Hi she says. The respondent responds, hi. Do you know who I am, she enquires. After a pause of realization, one will say can I say something first, then he says the Shabbat prayers. One complains it's too soon. My heart sinks as I watch just after a mother goes to fetch food for her pram baby, then she comes, Hey baby, lifts the baby out the pram. The mother arrives to find a lifeless baby and cry with sorrow.
It's time, she says. No it's too soon, can I just have a moment to delete something on my phone, my wife will find out. No, it's time. The wife yells out, he sees her as she passes them calling out for him, later followed by her screams and his body is pulled out of the lake.
Did you see that car, it almost hit me, he says after running towards her, playing with the ball that he went to fetch that cost him his life. The same ball that Dream caught earlier.
Sometimes death warns us. Sometimes it comes knocking at the door too soon. The question is, will you be ready?
I have watched my grans health deteriorate, after suffering a light stroke. Fortunately I was sitting with her then, talking and then I noticed a change, then called out my sis and mom and we took her to Dr Mnyanda. She was back to her old self in no time. However she gradually forgot who we were.
When I was diagnosed with covid, my gran was up and about. I would later think about her jokes and miss them, I would bring her the newspaper in the morning for her to read, she was no longer doing that anymore.
You find her sitting, watching at empty space, no longer the jolly person you know her to be. Sometimes you find her saying she wants to go home yena. Or she would say I'm waiting for the upper taker.
She was preparing us. She was 95 years. She lived a full life, Mrs Reverend Vika.
I feel joy in my heart knowing that she is among those who are waiting, and is now resting peacefully. May she continue resting eternally. I pray that no one comes and says I saw her in my dreams ufuna iinkobe, uyagodola etc.
We love you, we enjoy you. We will forever miss you. Rest in peace now, you lived your life gran. It's time for us to celebrate your journey with love and remember you for who you were.
Take care ya'll.
