hi,

more the 5 years ago i bought a Dell Notebook and am using it since then as my B4x Dev. PC. i am really happy with it but lately, i have started to learn Android Studio and it runs much slower when i use it. I really have no idea how erel made b4x run so fast and smooth i really wish Android Studio or Xcode would do the same but they don't. Anyway, i want to buy a new PC and it should be also capable to play new games and run fast. Can someone give me some suggestions what i should take in account when i am looking for a new strong pc?

I have a budget of about 1500$.

thanx, ilan

In my country for about that price, you can get: Core-i7, 16GB RAM and 256 GB SSD + 1TB HDD. Search for gaming PCs (Asus, Msi or others).

I agree that Android Studio eats a lot of resources. I'm also using it, and wonder if there are ways to optimize it and tell it to do less things in the background

1060 GTX and up?

As with most things, it depends on what your needing. For me and what little modern games I play on the PC, the 1060's (and even the Radeon RX 570's/580's) are fine. If you're wanting to run Far Cry 5 or Battlefield 1 in 4k, though, then you'll want more. Same goes for video editing but you didn't mention that.

Android Studio of both nature is slow, does not depend on the old PC. But if I put the SSD in the Android Studio will run in an acceptable manner.

I have a Sony laptop that I bought 5 years ago at 350 euros. I3 old generation. 4Gb of ram and an HDD 500gb. Forget the video card because there is little choice in the netbook and I still do not do video editing games. 350Euro cost.

When it became slow I added another 4Gigabite of ram and a SSD 480Gb. And it is reborn.
With 150 euros go the life of another 2 years.

Anyway.i can also develop with modest machines, obviously you can not play a game equally well with non-performing machines

I have already upgraded to SSD and also my ram maybe 2 years ago and indeed it made a huge difference but with android studio it is not fast enough. It takes me maybe 30sec to 1min when i load a project. Its to much in my opinion and i am talking about a very simple project.

Yes I know as they update it is getting heavier. But if you noticed when you installed Android Studio it is very heavy and takes a long time to download it.
Android Studio is not performing, other software of its competitors (eclipse for example) are much lighter.

I do not change PCs because a sofware has been badly designed and is slow, but I change software.:p (i suggest B4A)

B4x is anyway my choice but its good to know the native option.

You can use Eclipse or a simple text editor. But this point I create my own editor with B4J.
I did not realize it until today because I did not have the time

I preffer to use google ide for android since they update it every day and its better to learn something that is supported by the original company.

I bought a "DELL PRECISION T3500 W3550 Intel XEON 3,06 GHz 12GB Nvidia FX1800 WIN7 PRO" 4 years ago for 349 €, and it still runs great.
By the way, from the Ebay seller you get one year warranty.

We use these computers at work 24 hours a day, without any problems.
Of course, buy like these computers at work as new devices.

i wanted to buy a cool nice looking laptop that also can play good games and also will be strong enough for android studio so i think i made a good choice :)
I'm not saying that your new laptop is bad, it's even very good. :)
I just want to say that I do not want to spend so much money on a laptop or PC.
