TTS language package sdk

Hello,

Hope that all B4A'ers are doing fine.

For my Bird names translator I think it could be a nice feature to add TTS.
Finally found Acapela TTS for Android
The demo voices sound very good.

Can the SDK be implemented in B4A 2.0? She asks with a big smile for Erel :D

Does anyone know a better solution? I don't think that svox, etc. is very user friendly, having to install every language separately.

Thank you very much in advance.

Helen.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

The B4A TTS works fine but it only gives you the languages that are installed on the device e.g. Samsung or Pica TTS.
I tried sVox and Ivona; they work fine, however it's getting a bit expensive when you want to use 25 languages.

On the other hand users can decide for themselves if and which languages they buy if I implement TTS in my app.

I wonder what the pricing for Acapela is.

I hadn't noticed if Ivona was the same but with Acapela having to download the voice from the internet every time it says something is for me a major drawback.

Hi,

After some more reading it turns out that both Acapela and Ivona have an SDK.
The FAQ page of Acapela gives info about dealing with the language files and this http://developer.devel.ivona.com:81/sdk/sdk-tutorials-java/sdk_tutorial_java-1-streaming-for-loud-speakers is the doc of Ivona. You can put the language files on a server and the user can download them.

Sounds good to me, even though it might be easier and better to let svox do this part of the job (and you get a percentage of sales). That would also solve the issue about pricing your app.

Regards,
Helen.
