Other Updates for ESP32 via Board Manager?

I've installed the ESP32 resources from here: https://github.com/espressif/arduino-esp32/blob/master/docs/arduino-ide/windows.md

Any reasons why Arduino doesn't support it directly via Board Manager (at least it doesn't show up when I search for it)? How does one check if an update is available?

You go to Arduino / File / Settings and add these lines :

https://dl.espressif.com/dl/package_esp32_index.json
