Other What do Navigate Backwards and Forward actually do?

Can anyone please explain the functionality of the Navigate Backwards and Navigate Forward on the toolbar?

It is similar to the browser back and forward buttons (each sub is considered a page).

Well in that case it doesn't seem to work for me.
However I have found that if you click in a sub then it remembers the history of your clicks and goes back and forth through their trail.

This is what it should do.
You need to wait a short while before you move the caret for the location to be updated in the stack.
