WHY NOT MAKE FREE AD SUPPORTED APPS FOR IOS!!

after i thought apple cannot get more stupid i saw something very stupid today.

after finishing my app and uploading it to review (yesterday) i just playing a little bit around with my new iphone 5s and i see in settings (on the bottom my app) so i enter it and there i can set on/off the notifications (because i use firebase notifications in my app) and i have also a switch control named "Mobile Data" that is turned on by default.

i was wondering (and hopping that it is not what i think it is) what will happen if i turn it off and guess what no more internet connection for my app (ONLY !!!) what means NO ADS!!

so i dont understand, why should i make free apps (sit weeks and month on coding) and then apple let every user with a single touch disable internet access on my app (= No Ads)

you will now say you can do it also on android by turning off 3g (mobile data) ok but on android it will turn off completely the internet access so most people wont do it every time they access an ad supported app and then turn on when they exit it so they leave the connection and also see some ads.

but on iphone you can turn off for each app his mobile ads and use the free version as a full version.

so apple is encouraging us to make paid apps or a least free (without all features apps)

but WHY??? :(

it also does not make sense to let people use my app only when they are connected to the internet. i want them to be able to use it offline. so what should i do??
remove features from the free version?

with Mobile Data I would think it shuts off 3G/4G traffic only apparently it isn't.

Obviously it leeds to that, but how do other developers solve that issue?

I guess they check on app start if u r connected to the internet by app.canopenurl("www.google.com") and if its not connected u cannot use the app.

I have not much choises or remove features or let user use the app only if it is connected :(

I will go for the second choise.

Just back to Android :D
I didn't make app for iOS since Apple removed my free app after my developer account expired. I can't believe, I make free app for their users and they want to charge me $99/year

I have more then 65.000 downloads for my free (ad supported with all features) apps but did in 2 years less then 25$

Now i understand why just go to settings > turn off mobile data and walla FULL VERSION {magic o_O}

I dont think it is relevant if wifi will work unless your target groups are ipad users.

Today u get free unlimited 3g packages for few $ so most iphone users access the internet via 3g.

Even if 30% will enter your app via wifi it is not worth the effort.

I have the advertising removed in any iOS app, among other things because I want to make no advertising other app.
For my apps there is a lite version (free) and a Pro version (Paid). The Lite version with limited features.

not sure about IOS but android always picks Wifi above 3G when it is available. If it doesn't block that then you should have some ads processing when they use wifi.

putting a price on it is kind of a risk.

I'm affraid most people will skip it when they see a price.

Maintaining 2 versions is kind of annoying too as you might accidently upload the wrong one.

if you turn off mobile data and have wifi on then you may see some ads but again my apps are meant to use on iphones and i cannot count on it that some users will have wifi on since you dont have every where free wifi and today it is very cheap to use 3g (4g) so most people will not use your app with a wifi connection and even if some will it is not worth to make free ad supported apps that has all features on.

i guess your way is the right way for IOS. ios has much more app sales then android since most apps there are paid apps and the reason is in post #1

An idea!
If the user disables the internet, then you can show with a timer your own banners. So perhaps thinks the user that the deactivation not use and might activate it again.

i dont think that will work. he wont turn it again on he will leave it as is and clicking on your ads will not do much since the app cannot open any url.
i will just on every app start check for internet connection and if the user purchase the "remove ads" package this check will not be performed and the user will be able to use the app offline.
