Why would I buy this?

I downloaded the trial, and every tutorial thread I click on to download and study the code tells me I have to purchase first.

I have to say, this sort of business model may need some re-thinking.

Regards ... from an interested buyer

B4A Rocks!! It is very, very fast and will do just about anything you wish to do. I have six apps doing well all written with B4A in just about 6 months time. About one app a month! This was also while I was learning the language! Make the purchase you will love this and at the price he is charging it's a steal of a deal!! Also with the help of other developers here and the libraries they have created, it's getting better and better. I believe very soon your imagination will be the limit of what can be done with B4A. I made the purchase and have been smiling ever sense! You should be able to look through this thread all you want and there are plenty of code samples here. Also, the beginners guide has a lot of great info in it.

I have been programming starting with dBase II about 30 years ago

I did some work in Appforge for Windows Mobile and then NSBasic.

I stumbed onto Basic4Android and WOW! Definitely worth purchasing.

While I understand that following sample code is definitely a great way to learn how to use a product and I understand your frustration, the trial still allows you to "kick the tires" and you should still have access to the manual (I'm pretty sure).

I don't know your programming experience (if any) but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who has purchased B4A who regrets the decision. Compared to learning java and Eclipse, I don't think Android programming could possibly be any easier, and if you happen to have experience in VB or VB-like languages then you will mostly feel right at home (albeit with some minor adjusting as was my experience).

Erel has written a very fine and solid Android programming IDE, and one-on-one support (through the forum) with an app's developer is a huge asset to any end user. He participates here every single day.

And you not only have that benefit, but also the benefit of a large community here full of people who are more than willing to help with just about anything from simple answers to easy questions to often times providing sample code just for you! As if that weren't enough, you also have lots of additional libraries to add even more functionality, all free of charge with your license purchase.

If you are serious about Android programming and are looking for the easiest way to get started, you've come to the right place! There is also a 30-day money back guarantee, so you really have nothing to lose.

Although I suppose this may read like it, I have no affiliation with Anywhere Software at all. I'm just one of many many satisfied B4A users! :D

Welcome to the forum!

The Trial ver will let you explore the IDE and get a feel for how B4A works. But by far the greatest part of programming in B4A is the support you will get here. When you need help, it is here. This is a very active forum and the creator of B4A, Erel, is in every sub-forum answering questions as well.

@timwil I too programmed in dBase II. In fact, I used to work for Ashton-Tate!

I am a professional programmer, for last 9 years. I typically focus on enterprise scale application on a LAMP, WAMP stack. I am very at home in the OOP world of all the usual Web App technologies. Currently I work as a Programmer/Analyst for a Fortune 500 bank in Boston which I am in charge of mainly UI design using JQ, EXT and at the moment using CAKE as a framework, however trying to get them to use Kohana soon. We'll see... lol

Sorry for the brief CV, but someone mentioned my skills, so... anyways...

I am interested in the relationship with mySQL.

I can't even look at code examples without buying. And I know, it's a measely 99 bucks, but I am not authorized to buy anything without approval. You guys know how that goes.

And just so I don't get any death threats ( lmao ) - from what I have seen, I love this program. It's just what I think my developers need.

I just wish I could test drive it for the company, but... what can ya do. If anyone wants to share a simple MySQL connectivety example, I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Again, I am very impressed with the software. Great job. I'd think about a full version tryout though, time-limited. As the popularity of mobile software grows, software such as your own is gaining attention from companies such as ours ( US Bank ). Just as we are featured on Jack Slocumbs site as featured users with EXT JS, I'm just suggesting re-thinking the trial model.

I can tell you, the big boys will not shell out license fees for 70 developers without a full trial.

Just my opinion.

Regards,

John

No brainer....

I am purchasing for myself.

The more I looked into this, and played with it, the more I realized how much of an asset this will be for my own development.

( I will talk my employer into it eventually )

I look forward to participating in the forums.

Regards,

John

Welcome John.

i have programmed in all sorts of environments and recently wanted to get a new smartphone.

I looked at the iPhone & Android. iPhone lost me when they make it nearly impossible to develop without having a mac.

So I trialled this b4a and believe you me it was a true god-send

The help you get here is fantastic and I have to say the developer, Erel, is a genius.

I do hope you get the bosses to see how productivity would soar using b4a - I tried using Eclipse and got nowhere in a hurry. I have developed a database centric app I use in my work as a taxi driver in quite short time.

cheers, Ricky

It just don't get no better! I started off in Delphi and VB years ago. They sold for hundreds and eventually over a thousand $$ for some versions. And no trial version at all. But they were worth it in their time.

B4A is every bit as valuable in this field. Buy it now while it is still at a low, low price!

... not to mention awesome support and a magnificent forum!

What's to think about?!? :sign0188:

It took me years to get some value out of VB5 & VB6 and did cost me several 100 Euro. But with B4A it took me only 3 weeks to get the money back 10 times with my first applications. And that without knowing Android at all! I learnd to understand Android from B4A.

B4A is worth every Cent I payed for it!

I'll be perfectly honest about why I purchased a license. Although Erel has done a fantastic job of creating B4A, I didn't really care that much about B4A specifically. I used to program every day, so anything from COBOL to Java to C++ isn't a big problem.

What I paid for was the ease of use, the community access, the plethora of third party additions, and the speed at which I can create apps.

It's like taking a trip to Cancun. You paid for the atmosphere and the trip, but you could've paid for any hotel. But if it was a really good hotel, you didn't mind paying for it. :D
