Nice would be i can install an apk file direct from basic4android.

Under menu->Tools-Install apk

So it will be easy to give some else a copy of a beta version apk, just for testing?

Could be nice idea.

My beta-testers are receiving my apk via e-mail. If they have GMail, then they can install it directly from the GMail-reader on their device.

Hmm...maybe it depends on the Android-version installed on the device. I have managed to send files generated by the B4A-beta - I have not sent out any new betas released with B4A -version 1.0. Maybe something has changed.

Of course, on the device, in settings->applications->"unknows sources" must be enabled

thanks,

try to uninstall previous application from device first and then re-install it from GMail (although normally that is not necessary)

uninstall also does not work

I have a button 'open' with chord.apk file in gmail on device

or must it have button 'install' ?

reading from several forums it says, some apk will not install on android 1.6 and
2.2 , not a reason included

Mine says "Install" if I recall correctly. Maybe then it depends on the Android-version installed on the device.
