T tfcroft4 Member Jan 25, 2026 #1 Custom List View seems to be a suitable framework for my project. As a first step I downloaded and tested the CLVExample and get the following error in Debug mode, B4X: Error occurred on line: 267 (DDD) java.lang.RuntimeException: Object should first be initialized (B4XView). The application continues and behaves as expected. Two different CLVs one with text and the other with. Even though the application runs a RunTime excpetion is a bit worrying. Should I worry? Ted

Erel B4X founder Staff member Licensed User Longtime User Jan 25, 2026 #2 DDD is a utility that isn't strictly related to CLV. It is used in the example to simplify the access to the CLV items. For DDD to work, in this use case, you need two things: 1. A call in the designer script (inside the visual designer): Code: DDD.CollectViewsData 2. And in your code: Code: xui.RegisterDesignerClass(dd) The example should have these calls. Upvote 0

T tfcroft4 Member Jan 25, 2026 #4 Thank you for the reply. The test code is the downloaded CLV example. The two code requirements as noted are in place. I attach a ZIP file of the example project. The behavior is quite odd: The error is thrown on the first run/debug. If I then add a breakpoint and single step - no error Later run attempts - no error. Any observations would be welcomed. T tfcroft4 Member Jan 26, 2026 #6 Thanks for the reply. I infer that there may be an issue with my B4A installation or settings. I can try a re install. Ted Upvote 0

Sagenut Expert Licensed User Longtime User Jan 26, 2026 #7 I tested your example, using an emulator with Android 36 and leaving your code untouched. It works without errors (even with manifest with Min 5 and Target 30). Are you sure that your B4A installation is correct? Maybe it could be worth to make a new completely fresh installation from scratches. Follow carefully all the steps from the guide in the link below and download every components again. https://www.b4x.com/b4a.html Upvote 0

T tfcroft4 Member Jan 28, 2026 #8 To confirm I removed and re installed B4A and that error has gone. For completeness the code under test was not mine - a downloaded example called 'CLVExample' Thanks for the comments. Ted Upvote 0
