Android Question App restarts when opening from the background

Hi all

Could anybody suggest why my app restarts (on certain devices) when selecting it whilst it is running in the background?

I don't have anything in Activity_Pause or Activity_Resume - should something be used there to prevent this?

Are you using a foreground service? Otherwise the process will be killed when the program is in the background.

Sorry, could you explain what you mean by a "foreground service"?
