What is the current experience of

1) Running B4X IDE on Linux
2) Running B4X compiled apps on Linux

Anyway without WINE?
Does Erel approve?
Which flavor of Linux is most successful?
Or forget Linux and use Android x86?

These thoughts have come up after following the thread for Windows 11

For number 2 there is B4J which works perfect.
Linux flavor is definitely Ubuntu for me because Debian gave me a lot of hard time and the B4J app did not work at last.
For number 1 there is also VirtualBox for Linux.

For number 1 : You can't run the IDE durectly in LINUX (if that's what this question is asking) - except within a VM and windows loaded - as in #2.

there are other threads with reference to running IDE via Linux/ Mac inside VM (Wine-Parallels-whatever) - Unfortunaterly, Chit Chat is not searchable - maybe someone else can remember the URL/s.

Does Erel approve?

Erel posted a little while ago with his own seeking information about running in VM's and so on - he was looking at making something easer to do - again maybe others will remember the threads' URL/s. Can't answer for whether the "approves" or not - maybe he is more interested in how people are doing it as opposed to being approving or not. If you're using B4X (however that is) - trust me - he approves. ?

Unfortunaterly, Chit Chat is not searchable

It is, sort-of, if you use Google and tell it you only want his from this forum. It's not perfect, but it's the best we got.

Does Erel approve?

Does it matter? It's not illegal, as far as I can tell, so why does his approval matter for this? I imagine you're a living, breathing organism, very well capable of reasoning and making your own decisions - no need to seek other people's approval unless you're going into illegal or problematic moral territories.

He doesnt say no to it, will give some small advices but there are no plans to support it.

of course ubuntu with gnome its the standards but i use it on Arch + kde

Or forget Linux and use Android x86?

I'm thinking, can I run a B4A compiled app on Android x86
Imagine a line of business app that does not require full desktop OS, but just run 1 app. Maybe a warehouse terminal, point of sale etc.
Android seems to be a winner in the fallout from Windows 11 nonsense, therefore spending my time on B4A is justified!
