Can't change button colors

As per the beginners guide, I was trying to chane the color of the buttuns.
No luck...

How did you implement it? With a StateListDrawable? With the designer?

Yes.. I cant even change panel color via the designer.

I tried that no luck... Do have a sample that has color buttons so I can determine if it is a enviroment problem.

It appears the color only changes during runtime. I assumed it changed in the design mode like it does in VB6.

If you change it from the designer it should also change at design time. I guess that you are using the abstract designer and didn't connect to a real device / emulator. The abstract designer only shows the views layout.
