Android Question Check GPS-Location

Hi,

I have on a route specific GPS coordinate I must necessarily go. How can I check if I have reached the individual point while driving by car?

I know you can measure the distance with location1.distanceTo (location2) - but is not so safe. For example, if the point is after a curve, then the distance from point to point is less than the real distance.

You can measure the distance and if it is less than x meters (maybe 30?) assume that you have reached the point.

Unfortunately, this is inaccurate for a car race.
Can I use the library "GoogleMaps" and measure the distance to the point at each GPS1_LocationChanged?
Or is it not recommended?

I don't think that the current location reported from Google maps will be different than the location returned from the GPS library.

This is not based on the mobile SDK. It is a web service. You can use it but not every second and there will be latency of a few seconds.

Not sure. The internal GoogleMaps do not support this feature.

Is the race route the same as Google Maps route?
Maybe you consider a timer and then poll your new location and measure the new distance.

Yes, it should be the same and I need to check it out as well.
I am currently doing it with the web service.
When testing with 2 participants and it works quite well, I do not know how the web service, with 50-70 Teilnemer, behaves.
