I can't do it, but I sure would be interested in such an app (I assume that you are thinking about using a phone or a tablet as a BT keyboard). Please keep us informed of your progress!

Would it matter if there was a companion app (PC) running in background in order to listen the keystrokes?

That would, in my opinion, defeat the point. There are already lots of such apps. The point of having it as a BT keyboard is that it will simply work, regardless of device.
