Android Question Create effect of Closing Cover and opening

I have a user running my just converted B4XPages program that reported a problem where he closed the cover on his tablet and reopened and app crashed.

The device is a Samsung Tab-S, running Android 6.0.1

According to him "Closing the cover puts the device to sleep, without powering it off."

I don't have a cover how can I recreate this act? I tried power button click and the click again on but nothing.

Can this act be recreated?

I know where the crash is. But not sure what caused me to be in the code with invalid data.

NOTE: put code in to handle if invalid data comes in so I wont crash again - but would like to figure out what got me there with it.
