Bad news peeps. Despite belief in this brilliant idea and my enthusiasm for it I am just not financially setup for such an enterprise at the moment
I've been talking to my accountant who has essentially told me to "get a job, save up some money and maybe work on the prototypes in your spare time then re-visit it in a year or two when you have saved enough money for a decent go at it."
I had to return the donations
Seems that belief and enthusiasm alone will not keep the wolves from the door.
But on a lighter note, It does go to show that there are nice people out there willing to help and it makes me want to help too so I'll let you all know when I've saved up some money and can give it a real go.
rbsoft that is an amazing restaurant

but perhaps a bit scary
Aaron, BeatTheQ is the closest to my idea, not quite the same, I still think mine has a few redeeming features that no-one else has but as far as the customer is concerned, very similar to my idea.
You are correct of course that there is the whole American Waitress/Waiter culture where you have some nice young person come up and take care of you which we don't have so much in the UK, another factor to take account of. Many of our large pubs in England are bar-service only, even for food, though you do get the food delivered to your table, this is the issue that my idea should address.
