edit text height

Hello,
I have a line with buttons and edit text on designer layout.
The buttons and edit text have the same height and top value.
My question is why they not look the same on the device, the edit text is much
bigger and not aligned to the top?

The standard layouts for Buttons and EditTexts are 9 patch images ans have a transparent border of different size.
You can modify the backgrond of the views to your needs.
