It was about whether there is a way to upload to an ESP32 an not have to press the BOOT / EN buttons.

Here is the solution which I found in a post from another site subscription of mine.....
[SOLVED] Failed to connect to ESP32: Timed out waiting for packet header
Haven't had time to try it out yet, and, most likely won't ever be soldering anything to that chip . . . will just use the breadboard option.
