An error occurred while uploading the sketch

The error doesn't seem to be related to the GSM example. What happens when you try to run other programs on this board? Are you sure that COM8 is the correct port?

Com8 is correct.. It was selected by the IDE.
Will try to run another app that's already tested and get back. Thanks Erel.

Tested the button example and it's working fine. (COM8)

Make sure not to connect anything to pins 0 and 1.

Does it compile if nothing is connected to the Aduino Uno?

Yes.
In fact a gsm shield (was connected to 0 and 1) when the error occurred . I took it off and tested the button example and it worked. But the project is all about the GSM communication

Somthing weird..
The same project that produced the above error was apploaded successfully after removing the rxtx connectors to the gsm module

You need to use the software serial pins instead of 0 and 1.
