Android Question Help With Variations

I am trying to use the variatiins in the designer but I'm not sure how to select which variation I want in code I can find what size the loaded one is but not how to get a diffrent one to load? Do I need to save these as seperate versions? Anf loadthem or can I call them from the one layout?

In most cases it is better to start with a single variant and only add another one or two if those are really needed.

Thats what I did but as I have a tablet in my workshop and I wanted it on my phone and note I needed to add more and thats where my issue arose from
