Android Question How define icon for api < 23

We know that in api >=23,we can define icon with transparent background and android detect it and set color for it
But when we use this app in api<23,icon is gray completely or white completely
Can i define icon for api<23 in separator folder?

You can put the icon for 23+ in res\drawable-v23 and the other icon in res\drawable.

How do i use in folders the icons?
drawable-hpi-v23
drawable-mdi-v23?
