Android Question How do you get the name of a contact's phone number?

Are you sure? That looks to be doing something different...

When I pull phone numbers out of a contact, I want the name of the phone number itself, not the name of the contact.

I checked, it's close to what I need. It will return Android's built in names (mobile, work), but not ones I set myself (mom, dad) as they show up as null

Also, it would be nice if B4A would warn you that you're missing a library, and even better if it'd link you to a central repository to get it.

The List vs. Map is not relevant in this case. You will not be able to measure any difference between the two implementations.

It has to take more RAM though. It's storing one more data set.

And a map has to do a look up of every item from 0 to the desired item. A list doesnt.

How does a map look it up by the key, if not by checking each key to see if it matches?

Fetching an item from a map is an O(1) operation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_table

The time that it takes to fetch the data from the contacts service is much much slower. Not that there is any disadvantage of using a List in this case. Both solutions are good.
