Android Question How to handle on retrieve large amount of records into the Listview or Spinner?

I have a large amount of records (couple thousands records or more) in sqllite to be put into spinner or Listview for selection in my apps. I notice that the time to load the records into spinner or listview is take long time, when I retrieve upon 1st load. So I thought to have something like in the facebook, it retrieve some records to display and will retrive more when scroll to the end of the list. Anybody done this before? Can provide some advices on this? Thanks in advance.
