How to programmatically install an APK

I want to include a Live Wallpaper with my app, but I don't want to increase the Android version requirements unnecessarily. So what I want to do is, on devices that can support it, I want to download the APK for the wallpaper from my website and have my program install the APK (via the standard screen that asks for the user's permission. I don't need to bypass it) That way the people who do have my app don't have to pay for the wallpaper as a separate app either.

With that said, I don't think that it worth the effort. Only 2.3% of the devices are running Android 1.5 or 1.6: Platform Versions | Android Developers

Thank you. Hmm, I will assume you know better than I (the evidence points in that direction. Obviously) and just build the wallpaper into my existing app.
