Games In the needing of a simple to use graphic tool to create sprites

All,
I need a graphic tool to create sprites with transparency.

MSPaint is not an option, Gimp is over-complicated, I've tried some on-line editors but was not really happy with it.

Do you mind to suggest me a valid and yet easy to use graphic tool ?

Cosmigo's ProMotion is also a great tool and was years ago already the most advanced sprite tool with its onion skinning options etc.
I see they have a free version aswell now.

Many thanks for your suggestions. I use now Paint.Net, it seems to do the job. I'm evaluating also the other software you use, indeed they seem really promising. Pixelator seems also quite useful, however I guess that the pictures should have an omogeneus background in order to work fine.
