This is for anybody that is searching the forum to see if B4A is worth the purchase price. It was only a couple of weeks ago I was in the same boat. I decided to take the plunge and let me tell you, it's well worth it. The IDE is brilliant and the support is brilliant and rapid too. I'm loving it and hope Erel and anybody else who helps out keeps up the good work.

Basic4android is one of the best tools to play with and to make amazing android apps. Even for young beginners as for advanced experts. Great and quick support, documentation is now becoming amazing thanks to the wiki, Klaus' beginners guide, B4a helpviewer, the new search 'engine' and the online documentation. Really easy to make apps with, comes with a visual designer AND no xml writing required at all!, worth the price and a lot of additional libraries completes it. I have now made 2 apps so far and made around 85 euros with it.

Sincerely,
Tomas

Yes it is. After 2 days playing with b4a I got my first result. A small "app" to make a photograph and load it up to my homepage. I'm not a programmer, have only a little knowlage in VBA. But with help of great doc (thanks for german docs, forum and examples) I found the way to do it.
Regards - Peter - and sorry for bad english, I'm from saxonia ;-)

For a development package to be "worth it" in my book 4 key areas need to be covered:

1. Features
2. Stability
3. Support from the developer
4. Free Bugatti Veyron or Ariel Atom V8

Basic4Android covers the first 3 in spades. Two thumbs up from me.
Now I await number 4(!)

Seriously .. Yes. b4a is well worth the price. It is excellent. Even more so now it has a great debugger

All is said: It is worth every cent!
Respect for that great work on the IDE and all the really assiduously hardworking helpers in the forum.

I hope I can give some support to newbies back!

The support on the forum alone is worth what you pay for it!

All questions answered promptly and accurately, and any bugs are soon sorted by Erel.

B4A is worth a lot more than what what is charged for it, and as others have said the support is excellent.

I have memory problems especially getting my mind around new ideas and despite only having previous experience with old school basic (from the speccy and Amiga days) it has helped me to write and publish my own android apps.

I love the fact that it puts the power of android in everyones hands, without the need to learn java programming which I for one tried but could not get into.

Although I do wonder if Erel has figured out the key to human cloning as not only does he find time to work on B4A he also somehow manages to be very helpful on the forums and I have no idea how he finds the time but am very glad he does :)

:)

I just bought it...So I can't answer the question right now, but after playing with it for a few hours ( before I purchased it ) I have to say I was impressed. And I've seen a heck of a lot of IDEs in my time. I was just not willing to use Eclipse. I do feel that it's a shame that Google are not behind this, but for the developers sake; I hope they sell it to them for mega bucks.

I hope to become a regular poster and user of the software to produce some cool apps for Android. I also hope that I can get access to the intermediate Java...we'll see.

In the mean time, thanks for enticing me to buy...I look forward to the journey...oh, and my forum account being upgraded ;)

Peace,
Dunk

I just bought it too. After been playing around with Elipse and trying to do stuff, I found this GREAT software. After a few hours I was right at home, with a test running on my phone.
The community reminds me of the golden Amiga-days, and being able to produce native androidcode with VB instructions (witch I use everyday at work) I am in heaven.

Hope my twins (they are one year old) will give me time to make my (insert secret codename here) soon, so I can have my first app on the marked :)

It's outstanding.

I've been searching for some way to make apps on Android, but Java was too complicated
(To insert one graphic, i have had to add two classes and lots of libraries. It was 300 lines of code).
Then i found B4A and i am greatly impressed!

Early days but it looks promising. I would guess that productivity will be higher than with Eclipse/Java, of which I have some experience.

Value for money? A career change for the price of a haircut.

Recently spent about 2 days to get a "Hello World" out of
eclipse ... b4a is just what i've been looking for.

All praise Erel.

Absolutely worth it. The app is well designed. Support is personal and timely. I will say that the demo doesn't do it justice. You really need the full app to see all the amazing things that you can do.

All we need now is a google +1 for the forum. It is an Android forum after all ;)
