Java becomong ubiquitous?

Rather to my surprise it looks like Java is becoming more, rather than less important. A few years ago I thought it might wither after Oracle bought Sun but apparently not, owing to the open source versions.

i see that news a bit different, Microsoft is trying to become as ubiquitous as it was in the past incorporating as many programming languages as possible. You can install R and Python in SQl Server and i have seen some news about the language Rust.

On the past decade there were many improvements outside of the Microsoft ecosystem, seems that they noticed and are now reverting it,

On the other side, you are right in the sense that Java is gaining traction again, must of Big Data applications are on Apache like Hadoop and uses Java as main language.
